Shampooing
Most lice colonies start from two or three adult lice laying eggs. When this happens, you need to shampoo the hair with a specific head lice shampoo that you find at the pharmacy. If you cannot find it on your own, a pharmacist can help you. Follow the directions on the back. Most shampoo procedures include shampooing immediately to kill any living lice, again a few days later, and then finally again on the tenth day to rid of any stragglers.Another method is to use heated air to kill the lice. You may want to include both heated air, like that from a blow dryer, along with a strong shampoo if an infestation is out of control. Remember that shampooing is essential to kill live adult lice. If you have eggs, you don’t necessarily have to shampoo with a specific shampoo first. I would first get a head lice treatment from grahams natural, it works wonders!
Combing
The combing process is the most tedious process but the most essential. Start somewhere along the hairline and combing through damp hair strand by strand to remove any nits, eggs or dead adults. Now you know why you needed to shampoo first, right? The longer the hair, the longer the process will take. Hopefully the infestation isn’t too severe, but either way you will need to comb through on day one and then possible one or more times to check for any remaining eggs or nits.If your or your child just has nits, you will want to comb through and then follow with a thorough shampooing.
